"Nothing Gold Can Stay" Day 27/30

"Nothing Gold Can Stay" watercolor and gold leaf 8" x 10"

This project has really put me in touch with nature.  On my daily walk I am in constant search for changing leaves.  With all of this inspiration from nature I thought this poem was a beautiful accompaniment to this piece.

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

  1. Really beautiful pieces you've been doing with the leaves and gold leaf, Carrie. The poem is a perfect fit too.

  2. Yes, I agree Carrie the poem is perfect for your leaf series. This is so beautiful and uncomplicated. We all need a little uncomplicated from time to time.

  3. The poem and your paintings, beautiful!
