Day 25/30
Fall is in the air and I can't wait to see all the leaves change to their vibrant colors.  I found this beautiful leaf in the process of changing colors and I thought it was just so pretty it should stay just the way it is:) I'm having fun with gold leaf.  Too bad it doesn't photograph so well, but it's so pretty in person:)

Sunflowers are my favorite flower.  So when we were on a road trip and drove past a field of sunflowers you know we had to turn around and go tromping around in that field of sunflowers.  I'm calling this one "Tuscan Inspired" because I sure would like to be tromping around in a field of Tuscan sunflowers right about now:)

Carol Carter interview tomorrow on AHA

Hi Everyone,

You must tune in tomorrow for an interview with the fabulous Carol Carter.  I'm co-hosting Artists Helping Artists blog radio show (the #1 art blog radio show) for the month of October and I'm so excited about tomorrow's show.  Carol is one of my art heroes and now a personal friend.  When I decided to start my watercolor blog 3 years ago I started researching other watercolor artists for inspiration.  She was the first artists I came across on-line and I was hooked!!!  Her work is bold, colorful and flat out amazing!  Since then I've had the privilege to interview her here on my blog.  I also reached out to her for advice and she has been supportive and just amazingly generous with her knowledge and time.  I have since taken a workshop with her in St. Louis.  And during my last visit to STL I visited her fabulous studio and went out on the town.  I just love it when someone you admire turns out to be the real deal and just as nice and genuine in person as you hoped they would be.

I'm also running my Fall Special with the paintings below at 50% off.

Orange Day Lily on Grecian Plate

watercolor on paper 11 x 14  $850.00 BUY NOW
I love this time of year because our backyard comes to life with a rainbow of blooming day lilies.  They are stunning.  Last Summer I painted a similar painting so I decided to have an accompanying painting.  I picked one of the gorgeous orange blooms and placed it on a plate that my husband I bought when we made a trip to Greece, which was a life long dream of mine.  This plate is a hand-made plate from Rhodes, Greece by Bonis Pottery.  All of that information is carved in the back of the plate.  It hangs in my kitchen along with another hand-made plate from Greece.

Here is the other day lily painting.  I think they'll look great together.

Thought I would share some pictures of our backyard.  Just love when the day lilies are in bloom.  Wish it lasted all year:)

Hope you have a great day, I'll be posting again on Wednesday,

See you then,

Carrie

Summer Day Lily

Orange Day Lily on Patterned Plate watercolor on paper 11 x 14 BUY NOW
Once again our yard is in full bloom with day lilies.  I am forever appreciative of the former residents that planted just about every color and variety of day lily.  They are beautiful and I look forward to this time of year.  I'm sharing my day lily painting with you.  I plan on doing another one as soon as I'm finished with my commissioned painting that I'm working on.

Hope everyone is having a fabulous Memorial Day weekend.  As a military wife I am certainly thankful for all of our men and women serving our country past and present.

Orange daylily on patterned plate

watercolor on paper 11x 14

This is a dynamic piece. Our backyard was full of daylilies this summer.   They were beautiful.  We had every color in the rainbow.  I nicknamed our yard daylily row.  The orange flowers were so striking, I just had to paint one.

This piece is available just contact me if you're interested, carriewallerart@gmail.com.

I'm going to participate in my first monthly challenge hosted by Artists helping Artists blog.  The theme is "September".  Looking for any comments to help come up with an idea for this challenge, what do you think evokes the idea of "September".

Daylily row (backyard)
 watercolor on newsprint

Steven did a lovely watercolor this week.  He has survived his 2nd week at preschool and has emerged as the best overall color-er of the class.  These are his teacher's remarks, I might add.  He got out his paints this week and he wasn't too thrilled about painting on newsprint.  Can't say I blame him, but I wasn't expecting a paper snob at the age of 4.

See you all next week.
