Hi Everyone,
I trust that your week is going well. It is gray and rainy here and it is making me tired. I need my sunshine!!! I'm plugging away on my San Pellegrino bottles, but I'm feeling like they're in that awkward adolescent phase right now. I have almost started over sooooo many times, but I'm not giving up yet. I will at least finish the first bottle and then re-evaluate.
Oh and I a few people ask what greens I'm using. At the moment I'm using Schmincke Pthalo Green, Schmincke Sap Green and Daniel Smith Cascade green. For the darks I'm using, DS Payne's Gray, DS Lamp Black and DS Indigo
I'm also wondering why it is I seem to procrastinate when it comes to competition entries. I have several deadlines piling up and I'm scrambling to reach the finish line. Definitely going to work on this, these deadlines are not a surprise and I do have an entire year to plan soooooo--Major goal for next year---PLAN AHEAD!!! I want to have things finished a month out so I have some breathing room and a cushion for those unexpected things like commissions that pop up.
I'm still taking entries for my 2nd Blogiversary (is there a correct spelling for this? I think I've seen a dozen ways to spell this). I'll be doing a drawing to give away a pack of Carrie Waller mini-prints. Leave a comment with your e-mail address so I can contact you. I'll announce the winner next Monday!

Carrie, are you left-handed? You are beginning in the lower right and most righties start in the upper left - so was just wondering :)
ReplyDeleteCarrie, the Pellegrino is really looking good. The greens coming through on the far right are fabulous.
ReplyDeleteYou made me feel a bit guilty - I must get organized for shows and competitions, too. Thanks for the nudge!!
this is going to be a gorgeous piece, Carrie!!! I love it already.!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, girlfriend...you have so much patience...and obviously no ADD there, unlike me, I would never be able to do a piece like this...Just wonderful!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteloving all the different greens! Can't wait to see the finished product!
ReplyDeleteI think this is progressing beautifully, Carrie. I love the greens you have mixed for this piece. And, I don't think I've ever seen anyone paint glass the way you do....simply awesome. Sending you a bit of my sunshine today! :)
ReplyDeleteA stunning job on the label!!! I love the soft, bluish tinge contrasting with the greens in the bottle, and all the wonderful texture effects! I think to talk about giving up is totally non-sense. It's going to be a beautiful painting.
ReplyDeleteI can't agree more on your comments about the deadline procrastination part -- I have been doing this for years and this year is no exception at all. The LWS deadline is Jan. 17th and I should be painting the piece for that show NOW!!!!...But, surprise surprise, I'm not! I know I would be pulling my hairs out this weekend trying to meet it, but, I'm still having zero motivation to start it now. It's bad since a rushed painting is rarely as good as it could become. I guess I better work on changing this habit...
Pour aller loin il faut ménager sa monture...
ReplyDeleteUne progression admirable...
gros bisous
This is a very generous and thoughtful give away. I'd love to win.

It must be the weather that has you thinking this is in an awkward phase because it looks fantastic! No need to be discouraged or to start over . . . this looks amazing. Keep pluggin'! :) And I'm still in awe over the whole sheet thing. I must try it sometime.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on the deadlines. I know what you're saying, I'm going a little batty here myself.
It's going to be a success!
ReplyDelete*raises hand* I want a chance to win... :)

A surprise for you on my blog Carrie ! Bises.
ReplyDeleteOh this is going to be good. I can sense it sparkling already : )
ReplyDeleteI took a photo session with the same bottle with some lemons a few years ago and had yet the opportunity to turn in into a painting....you beat me to it. Can't wait to see it completed! I am currently shopping for a bottle of Chanel No 5 on ebay / etsy for an upcoming painting and was tickled to see a No. 5 painting by Anne Harwell....earie coincidences!
