original watercolor on paper 6x6 wip- sorry about the color it's a little green |
This weekend was a long weekend for us in the good ole' U.S of A and I'm afraid I wasn't as productive as I should have been. I'm working on an accompanying piece for Can It. Above is my work in progress. I swear it is different from the other one:) You'll see on my next post.
Our neighbors had a Labor Day BBQ and I wanted to bring something over a little bit different than a bottle of wine. So I brought them a little Thank You bouquet. I attached a small thank you card with one of my paintings on the tag.
"Dinner At Eight" SOLD |
I hope everyone had a relaxing weekend. I'm very thankful for my family and house this weekend. I can't help but hug my little boys a little tighter today as I read about Carol and David Marine's devastation. Their home and studio were lost to the wild fires in Texas. Here is a link to fundraising page. I can't imagine what they are going through.

I'm looking forward to the progress on the accompanying piece. Love the painting of the tea cup and great idea to use a print of it as a gift tag.
ReplyDeleteCarrie, congradulations on your sale! Your bouquet gift is lovely, especially the attached card. And as always, I look forward to seeing your completed painting.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the sale Carrie! Spain huh? That's awesome! :))) And your bouquet looks so beautiful, clever idea about the card too. And I'm excited to see Can it too finished. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the sale. Doesn't it just blow your mind to think about one of your pieces ending up so far away? I know it would mine if it were to happen to me. Using a print of one of your paintings for a gift tag is a wonderful idea. I'm going to borrow the idea for Christmas tags.
ReplyDeleteI just LOVE your little bouquet What a lovely idea!
ReplyDeleteAnd I hadn't seen the painting en route to Spain before - It is another stunning piece of work!
Can you tell me which colours you use/mix to get your really dark and black backgrounds? I would love to know :0)
Sandra, in this piece I mixed Daniel Smith Indigo and Schmincke's Sepia. It was always a little shiny when it dried in places so since then I have experimented and have been using Daniel Smith's lamp black. I know some people don't like to paint with black but it dries a lot flatter and achieves the deep color in fewer washes. So I'm going with whatever works to get the desired effect. I also really love Daniel Smith's payne's gray for glass it has a lovely blue tint. I do mix a lot of combos however for glass, but payne's gray is a go to gray for me.
ReplyDeleteLovely bouquet Carrie!
ReplyDeleteSpain, Awesome! Love this "Too" painting and I know we all believe it truly is a different one. Loved the first and now this one too. Gorgeous so far! Great gift tag idea. Who do you use for printing?
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone, and I use Vista Print, Kathy:)
