This week I decided to take us on a trip to one of my favorite places on this planet. I fell in love the first time I went to Venice and became even more enamored every time we went back. In my eyes it is one of the most magical places. Canals that lead you around an enchanted city. I mean wouldn't you want to have dinner here. This painting appeals to the voyeur in me. Looking into these beautiful windows I can't help but want to visit, see what is going on inside this building. It gives a whole new meaning to waterside seating.
Next week I'll be sharing another Venice memory. Can't wait to get it onto to paper. Where is your favorite spot? Where would you visit if you could go anywhere in the world? I'm anxious to hear:)

Beautiful again, Carrie! I THOUGHT you were military. My husband was Air Force. We lived in Vicenza for two years, not too far from Venice. Where are you stationed?
ReplyDeleteSuperb, Carrie....can't tell it from a photograph (as usual). Glad you have some beautiful memories to draw upon for inspiration.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful painting! When I first looked at it I thought "oil" and was surprised to see watercolor under it. Such rich colors!
ReplyDeleteIt's fantastic Carrie! I love the intense blue of the water against the more rustic colors of the building. Phenomenal!!! (Did I spell that right? ;) he,he)

Lovely painting, I especially like the warmth coming through the small windows, makes one want to stop and peer inside! And I'm looking forward to seeing some of your Venice paintings when you get back - have fun over there (also liked the Red Hen painting of your previous blog).
ReplyDeleteBeautiful painting Carrie! I loved visiting Venice when I was studying in Florence. With its unique canals and beautiful architecture its an instant classic when visiting.
ReplyDeleteJeremy Thanks for stopping by, the windows are one of my favorite parts also. I'm not in Venice at the moment, wish I was. Just taking a virtual tour right now:)
ReplyDeleteJonathan, Thank you! Italy is definitely a favorite of mine, of course most of Europe was a favorite of mine, I don't discriminate:)

ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful painting! I'm amazed by your skill with watercolor but even more so by your ability to create such a wonderful dramatic feeling and atmosphere with your rich vibrant color and lush, rich darks . . .
ReplyDeleteWOW! Again I'm speechless. At first, I thought it was a photograph..you have mastered watercolor painting. And yes, I would love to have dinner in this beautiful building....love the colors and reflections.
ReplyDeleteI traveled quite alot in my 20's and 30's and now I prefer to get in my car and drive. Flying is not as glamorous as it once was.... That said, I would love to go to Australia and New Zealand....
ReplyDeleteI loved Venice, and I was there twice!
Wonderful artwork!
